Vail Daily letter: Thoughtful reply
Vail, CO, Colorado
I thought I’d share a response I received regarding my recent letter, “A smarter way.” Maybe others would benefit:
“Dear Ms. Fryklund,
Thank you for your thoughtful e-mail. You are certainly not alone in your distaste for negative political advertising, or your desire to more fully inform yourself about candidates.
While I recognize it is difficult to wade through the extensive candidate material available on the Internet, I would like to make a suggestion that you might find helpful. There is an organization called Project Vote Smart, which compiles information about candidates’ views on a wide range of issues in order to provide voters with the type of information I think you are looking for. If you are interested, the group’s website address is http://www.vote
Regarding your idea, that is something the Legislature would likely need to tackle before it could be implemented by the secretary of state’s office. With that in mind, I would suggest you contact your state representative and state senator to share your idea with them. Below I have provided links to the contact information of your legislators.

State Sen. Al White: http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/leg_dir/Senate/
If you have any further questions or comments please feel free to reply to this e-mail, or you can give me a call at 303-894-2200, extension 6342.
