Vail Daily letter: Vista Bahn fine as is

Jack Skidmore
Vail, CO, Colorado

My name is Jack Skidmore and I am an eighth-grade student at the Vail Ski and Snowboard Academy. I am writing because I feel that the whole idea of this new gondola replacing the perfectly good Vista Bahn is a waste of money. The Vista Bahn is a very efficient chairlift, and Vail Resort is replacing it with a very expensive gondola. I do not know why this lift has to be replaced when there are chairlifts in the back that are not high speed and only have three seats per chair. These lifts should be replaced before Vail starts replacing great lifts on the front side.

Then to spend even more money, Vail is deciding to put complimentary wi-fi in each cabin. Why? So people can be even less friendly than they already are? Be more addicted to their phones than they already are? And talk even less than they already do?

I enjoy talking to people from other places and learning their opinions on the resort, and how they have enjoyed it. I think that this leaves a bad reputation for Vail and its people. When people from other cities, states or even countries come to ski Vail and no one is friendly or even talks to them, that leaves a mark, and not a positive one.

In the end, I think that there are better things Vail Resorts can do with their money than replace a good chair.
