Vail Daily letter: What’s the holdup with healthier food at school?
July 6, 2010
Thanks, Butch Mazzuca, for bringing more attention to this issue of healthy meals at school. Is anyone else wondering, “Why does this have to be so drawn out?” Don’t we all want our kids to eat healthy?
Our school district’s mission statement is “Educating Every Student for Success.” Isn’t it a known fact that kids who eat whole food (not chemically processed) and low sugar concentrate better.
I’ve gone and sat with my child at lunch time and watched as child after child threw most of their hot lunch in the trash. This really could be a change for the good, and why wouldn’t that be a goal for the school district? Couldn’t this move a little faster?
