Vail Daily letter: What’s the priority?
Vail, CO Colorado
As I write, a crew is preparing to repave the bike path along the south side of the Eagle River at Riverwalk.
How this will improve the experience of walking or bike riding on the current surface is a mystery to me.
Based on my frequent walks and bike rides, the path is neither hazardous nor on the verge of disintegration.
Not so for the approaches to the Eagle River bridge in Edwards, where the potholes proliferate and have been there long enough to merit placement on the National Reg-ister of Historic Places.
So a little butt discomfort when riding the bike path trumps the daily, monthly, annual damage wreaked on thousands of vehicles passing over the Eagle River bridge? Surely the essence of public expenditure in tough times is getting priorities straight!
Cost-benefit analysis ring a bell with anyone?
