Vail Daily letter: Where’s your evidence?
Vail, CO, Colorado
I have a quick question for the author of the “No gods at all ” letter to the editor. I am curious as to what is the indisputable evidence that no god of any kind exists.
I may fall under the category of the “uneducated masses” referred to, but I believe that for something to be indisputable, it must be proven.
That being said, the “intelligent application of science” should come into play in order to back up the indisputable evidence.
I am pretty sure, at least by my understanding of the scientific method, that the statement he makes is not indisputable. I, on the other hand, cannot make an indisputable claim that the god I worship is present and among us. I live in faith and am quite comfortable with that.
I would agree that countless lives have been lost in the name of religion. In today’s world and in our past history, mankind has misconstrued God’s purpose and murdered each other in his name, mainly driven by the lust for power and greed.
But his commandment is that we shall not murder. We should not confuse God’s purpose for us and mankind’s continual fight for dominance over other. They are 180 degrees apart.
I believe that if you truly want to have the unifying, peaceful and focused world you speak of, take a look at the New Testament. Jesus talks about these things quite a bit. Vaya con dios, amigo.
