Vail Daily letter: Woodland for Eagle mayor
Vail, CO, Colorado
As an Eagle resident, I would like to pose a question to those who are voting in the upcoming
Who do you want to lead our town as mayor? Do you want a successful businessperson? Or, do you want a candidate who works for another government entity?
We are at a turning point in the town of Eagle and are facing serious challenges. We are in need of increased tax revenue and in need of job creation for our community. We need to be proactive and think for ourselves. We cannot count on the support of surrounding communities for revenue sharing and job creation. The question of course is: How do we get there, and who can lead us there?
I was surprised to learn at a recent Town of Eagle board meeting that Yuri Kostick was the sole trustee to vote against sending the ERS project to a public referendum vote. Does he not trust the town of Eagle residents to vote for what they want on such a large land use application? I find it hard to trust a mayoral candidate who does not trust the people of Eagle to vote for themselves in a referendum vote.
During the last four years as our mayor, Ed Woodland has demonstrated, time and again, his commitment to creating jobs and sources of sustainable revenue. His excellent leadership has helped Eagle weather the current economic storm and his experience will prove invaluable to our community in the years to come.
