Vail Daily letters: Keep Eagle quaint

Bill and Anne Langford
Vail, CO, Colorado

We are writing this letter as recent visitors to Colorado with an extended stay in Eagle with some old friends.

I have been coming to Colorado since the early ’50s for skiing and business. I have always loved the mountains.

My wife has visited Colorado several times, but this was the first time in Eagle. She particularly enjoyed the county historical center and the well-preserved downtown.

We have been told of the potential development of a major shopping mall with a big box store. We have recently traveled other states and seen too many empty storefronts and aborted businesses to not wonder if enough is enough.

We would hate to see Eagle lose its natural charm and character. We hope that the citizens of Eagle will realize they would be risking the survival of the gem of a community that they have. Hopefully cool heads will prevail.
