Vail Daily letters: Those bonuses cost us
Vail, CO, Colorado
The lead headline on Page One of last Friday’s Wall Street Journal read “Bank Bonus Tab: $33 Billion.” How utterly immoral can these banks and their employees be?
Six of the nine banks cited paid one in every 270 employees more than $1 million. The tab cost every man, woman and child in the United States $110 ! The losses piled up by these banks in 2008 were almost $100 Billion. Their poor judgement, total lack of business sense and greed brought the country to its knees. Many thousands of good people are now unemployed and worried about their families health and welfare. We can blame Bush, heaven knows he paled in relation to Nero. It is up to our current Congress and new President now to enforce the return of that money to people. Obviously, there are many Bernard Madoffs.
