Vail Daily obituary: Elizabeth (Betsey) Burbank Sink, 1941-2015

Betsey Sink, 73, passed away Wednesday at Wingate of East Longmeadow with her loving family by her side in the early morning hours.

Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Betsey was the daughter of the late Daniel E. Burbank Jr. and Elizabeth (Gahan) Burbank. She graduated from Longmeadow High School and Colby Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire.

Betsey had a wonderful career in residential and commercial real estate in multiple states including Massachusetts, Vermont and Texas, as well as in Vail, where she eventually retired. She achieved many accreditations in her real estate career including the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation, the National Association of Realtors highest professional recognition for commercial and investment practitioners. This included being elected to the CCIM board of directors for three years. Betsey was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church in Dallas.



Her passion was her family as well as the friends of her family, whom she always greeted with an open door. Over the years, Betsey enjoyed skiing and golfing, and was an avid supporter of the Dallas Cowboys.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Ernest Sink and his wife, Paula; Todd Sink and his wife, Heidi; and James Sink and his wife, Megan; her former husband, Clifton W. Sink; her step-son, Clifton Sink; her brother, William Burbank and his wife, Barbara; her sister, Lee Ross and her husband, Jerry; grandchildren Sam and Kate Sink, Brennan and Mackenzie Sink, and Tate Sink; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends and family members including Ashley McGowan and her husband, Donald. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Wingate of East Longmeadow for their loving care of Betsey.

A funeral to celebrate Betsey’s life will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 7 Somers Road, East Longmeadow, Massachusetts. Burial will follow in Longmeadow Cemetery. There are no public calling hours. Forastiere Smith Funeral Home in East Longmeadow is entrusted with the arrangements.
