Vail finishes water-and-fire fountain
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” The fountain in Seibert Circle is finished and Vail will hold a ceremony to celebrate at 5 p.m., Thursday.
The $1.5 million fountain at the top of Bridge Street took more than two years to design and build. It was designed by Los Angeles-based WET Design whose previous works have included the Fountains of Bellagio in Las Vegas and the Cauldron at the Salt Lake City 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
The fountain will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. when wind and other conditions permit.
The fountain completes the town’s $19 million streetscape improvements that began in 2004. Funding for the fountain includes $225,000 from Vail Resorts; $20,000 from Triumph Development; and an additional $118,000 in private sector funding from 37 contributors. The private funding campaign was led by Alan Kosloff and Ron Riley.
