Vail: Fire station plans presented Wednesday

Daily Staff ReportVail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado Preliminary plans to build a fire station and worker housing in West Vail will be presented at a community meeting Wednesday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Vail Town Hall. The town wants to build on about 5 acres in the Chamonix neighborhood, including on the land where Wendys used to be. Residents are invited to share their ideas with town planners. The town has hired Stan Clauson Associates, Studio B Architects, and Drexel Barrell & Co. to prepare preliminary designs. The housing may include one- to three-bedroom, for-sale units and rentals. A 15,000-square-foot fire station has been designed. It would house 18 firefighters and have room for an ambulance. The plans also include open space that residents could use and a parking garage. Plans will be presented to the Town Council on May 20. The Town Council could make a final decision in June.
