Its working! The business community is benefiting from a renewed sense of cooperation and communication between town of Vail, Vail Resorts and the business community the three legs of the stool. Those trying to earn a living in Vail Village know that the demand for Village parking has outweighed the supply. A combination of construction, employee, and guest vehicles has been filling the Village structure early each weekday during June while the Lionshead structure has continued to have plenty of spaces available. In a win-win move, the town of Vail solicited and received feedback then made an immediate, overnight change that will benefit everyone.Starting this week, the town is reserving 200 spaces on the top deck of the Vail Village parking structure for shoppers and diners until 10 a.m. Before 10 a.m., overflow traffic will be diverted to Lionshead to even out the use. At the same time, Vail Resorts is coming up with solutions to increase winter parking availability. Its working!Bonanza successThe Vail Chamber & Business Association successfully orchestrated last weekends BarBQ Bonanza in Vail Village. It was a rip-roaring, finger-licking-good success! The streets were packed with locals and visitors alike sampling barbecue treats. Moes Barbecue in Lionshead tied for first place with Over the Fence from Thornton. The bonanzas success was the result of the incredibly hard work of the chamber, the Commission on Special Events funding, and the cooperation of 25 community restaurants and numerous retail shops, who were willing to add staff and risk unknown business levels for the benefit of all. Its working!Disney Institute fundingAnother example of cooperation that will benefit the business community was the recent decision by the Vail Town Council to partially fund the Disney Institute guest service training program that is coming to Vail in September. Vail Resorts had already committed to helping fund the Disney Institute program. The town funding ensured this event, which Vail has exclusive rights to, will take place. Its working! The Vail Chamber & Business Association is a conduit for information to and from its membership, to and from Vail Resorts, and to and from the town of Vail department heads and council members. If you want to be a part of this renewed sense of communication, collaboration and cooperation, and be in the know, join the Vail Chamber. We welcome your involvement. Its working! The Disney Institute Guest Service training program is being sponsored by the Vail Chamber & Business Association. Corporate tables and individual seats are available.
