Vail Holidaze rings in 2014

Daily staff report

VAIL — Vail Holidaze rings in 2014 with activities for the whole family on New Year's Eve on Tuesday.

The Vail Holidaze New Year's Eve fun kicks off Tuesday evening with a long-standing Vail tradition, the torchlight parade and fireworks, which begin at 6:15 p.m. on Golden Peak.

Skiers and riders from Vail's Ski and Snowboard School will come down Golden Peak illuminated with glow sticks, creating a trail of light that gracefully snakes down the mountain. The event is a truly fantastic spectacle, and guests are invited to view the parade from the base of Golden Peak.

Immediately following the torchlight parade, a fireworks display celebrating the New Year will light up the night sky over Vail Mountain. The torchlight parade and fireworks are complimentary and open to the public.

Later in the evening, for guests ages 21 and over, Vail NYE 2014 is the biggest New Years bash in Vail, featuring a live performance by Mix Master Mike.
