Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – Wednesday marks the 79th annual Doctors’ Day, and the Vail Valley Medical Center is asking patients to thank physicians by making a charitable donation in honor of a doctor who has cared for them or their family.

Vail Valley Medical Center has been able to honor nearly 50 caregivers through Doctor’s Day donations and has signs in the hospital honoring those caregivers.

To honor your favorite physician at Vail Valley Medical Center, consider making a charitable donation to the department or program of your choice. Materials may be obtained by going online or calling Sarah Paladino at 970-477-5177.

Doctors’ Day marks the date that Dr. Crawford W. Long of Jefferson, Ga., administered the first anesthetic for surgery, March 30, 1842.

“Doctors’ Day is a way of saying thank you to the physicians who work tirelessly every day to keep their patients and our community healthy,” said Doris Kirchner, president and CEO of the Vail Valley Medical Center.
