Vail hosts Mardi Gras fest on the mountain
VAIL – Vail Mountain’s Mardi Gras celebration starts today and runs through Tuesday. Festivities include a parade with a celebrity king and queen, collectables, beads and other trinkets, Cajun and Creole cuisine, and live zydeco and jazz music. The celebration begins Saturday at bars throughout Lionshead and continues Sunday with the “World’s Highest Low Country Crawfish Boil.” Last year, 8,000 crustaceans were eaten. On Monday, several restaurants will participate in gumbo cook-off. The festivities end Tuesday with a Mardi Gras parade in Vail Village.
