Vail housing lottery applications available
Housing lottery applications for the town of Vail’s master purchaser list are now available. The list will be in effect for one year and used when any units become available for resale in the town’s deed-restricted housing complexes, which include Vail Commons, Red Sandstone Creek and North Trail Townhomes.
Applicants’ names will be placed into “tiers” of eligibility based on the number of years they have worked and lived in Eagle County. The opportunity to purchase units will be awarded to the top person on the list. Priority will be given to those living and or working in Vail. No units are currently available for purchase, although an average of five to seven units are re-sold every year.
Application packets for the housing lottery must be picked up from the town’s community development department office at 75 South Frontage Road, and are due by noon June 4. A lottery is scheduled for 6 p.m. on July 8 and applicants or a representative must be present to be eligible for the drawing. The priority list will then be used for all housing units that are resold from July 9 until July 8, 2005.
Lottery applicants must meet the following basic eligibility requirements.
The town has helped build 80 owner-occupied housing units since 1995, including 53 units at Vail Commons, 18 units at Red Sandstone Creek, three “buy-down units” and six units at North Trail Townhomes.
