Vail indulges on the cheap
VAIL, Colorado Before November Ansley Warren didnt have a clue about offseason specials. Prior to moving to Eagle-Vail, she lived in Atlanta where no such phenomenon exists. Warren caught on quickly upon her arrival though, sneaking in a few cheap eats before the season kicked into full swing. Likewise, over the next few weeks, she hopes to try a few of the restaurants shes heard about, but isnt able to afford at full price. Itll be nice to experience the area restaurants that the people with money always get to. My roommate works at La Bottega and she talks about the great meals there things like Kobe beef ravioli.Along with Bottega, Warren hopes to visit Grouse Mountain Grill and Mirabelle, she said.Oh and Dusty Boot has a $6.95 lunch special. Im looking forward to being able to afford to eat lunch out and not have to bring it every day, she added. Warrens roommate, Ian Craig, summed up the beauty of offseason specials in one sentence. It enables a broke local such as myself to afford the common amenities of a resort town. Craig doesnt believe the restaurants are necessarily giving back to the locals, however.Theyre doing it so they can just pay their rent. I dont think its altruisticc, Id say its survival method, he said.No matter what the reason is behind the specials, one thing is for sure now is the time to indulge, be it in a spa treatment or a three-course meal, there are plenty of good deals to choose from. Read on for our round-up of off-season specials.
