Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado ” As a result of the recent snowfall, crews from the Vail Fire and Emergency Services Department began burning piles of dead trees and brush in the Vail Golf Course neighborhood Wednesday in Vail, Colorado.

The burning will continue as weather conditions allow. The piles are located on town land near Ptarmigan Road and Fairway Drive.

During the burning, smoke and flames may be visible and some smoke may settle during the evening hours. People with respiratory problems are advised to stay indoors or avoid the area.

Additional burns will be taking place throughout the community over the next few months, where as many as 2,200 piles of dead trees and brush remain from large-scale cutting efforts completed earlier this year as part of the Vail Valley Forest Health Project.

For details, contact Vail Fire Department Wildland Coordinator Tom Talbot at (970)477-3509.
