Vail looking for people to serve on town boards

VAIL, Colorado ” The town of Vail, Colorado is looking for community members to help plan special events and bring visitors to Vail.
There are vacancies on the Commission of Special Events and the Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council, two of the town’s boards.
Applications for all vacancies are due to the town by 5 p.m. Dec. 10. The Vail Town Council will conduct interviews during its work session on Dec. 16, with appointments made at its evening meeting.
There are three positions open on the Commission of Special Events for anyone who is a resident, property owner, business owner or employee within Vail. Each term lasts two years, ending in December 2010.
The commission hires and oversees a director and/or staff, as well as event producers and/or promoters. It also creates, funds and seeks special events for the town.
The commission typically meets in the morning on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Vail Town Council Chambers. The position is voluntary, and each member is provided with a blue parking pass.
Vail Local Marketing District Advisory Council has four positions open to anyone who is an owner of real property or taxable personal property in Vail.
Corporations or entities that own property within Vail may forward a designee from their corporation or entity to be considered for the council. Each term lasts for two years, ending in December 2010.
The mission of the 11-member council is to strengthen the area economy by attracting visitors to Vail during the May-to-October time frame. The advisory council’s meetings are currently held on the third Thursday of every month at 8:30 a.m.
