Vail looks for employee housing builders

VAIL, Colorado ” The town of Vail is looking for builders to construct a duplex on a town-owned lot in West Vail, Colorado to be used as for-sale employee housing.
The two units will be deed restricted and pre-sold to qualified purchasers through the town’s lottery system.
The .418-acre property, located at 2657 Arosa Drive, was acquired by the town in 1995 as part of a land exchange with the U.S. Forest Service. At the time, an A-frame residence was located on the property and was used as rental housing by the town until it was torn down in 2000 to make way for new employee housing. However, the project stalled due to changing priorities of the town and was never completed.
Contractors who respond to the town’s request for proposals are being asked to provide detailed information on the project that will be built, including but not limited to exterior and interior finish materials, a detailed cost of developing what is proposed, and the anticipated development review and construction schedule. —
A copy of the bid request is available on the town’s Web site at http://www.vailgov.com. Proposals will be evaluated based upon relevant development experience, total cost, use of qualified local sub-contractors and the proposed schedule.
