Vail marketers make pitch in New York

VAIL – Vail kicked off its summertime market push recently at the at Landmarc restaurant in the Time Warner Center in Manhattan.

Each year, Vail Valley public relations firm Peeples Ink, on behalf of the Vail Local Marketing District, promotes Vail in the summertime to New York media. New York is home to the largest number of media organizations in the country, particularly those that are influential with the types of upscale visitors Vail attracts.

This summer’s marketing effort promotes Vail as the nation’s premier destination for recreation, health and wellness, and arts and culture.

“It’s an important trip,” said Kelli McDonald, manager of economic development for the town of Vail. “The New York media has come to expect something different from us each year. These events are the way that we stay top of mind and noteworthy in the eyes of the media.”

There was performance by a trio from the Vail Jazz Workshop and stationary bicycles programmed to simulate a ride on Vail Pass,

Others pitching the Vail Valley included Mia Vlaar and Howard Stone from the Vail Jazz Festival, Jamie Gunion from the Vail Recreation District, Shelley Woodworth from the Vail Valley Foundation, Brian Nolan from the restaurant community and Ellen Miller, who talked about running programs in Vail.
