Vail Mountain School announces dates for Home Tour

Daily Staff Report
Vail, CO, Colorado

For 36 years, Vail Mountain School has hosted a home tour of the Vail Valley’s finest homes. Slated for Sept. 16, to coincide with Oktoberfest and the fall colors, this year’s event is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cordillera Valley Club.

The neighborhood is a private, gated, golf course community over looking Lake Creek Valley and New York Mountain. The homes on the tour, each with their own unique characteristics, incorporate stone, rough-sawn wood-siding and covered porches on their exteriors. In viewing the home, tour guests will see a kaleidoscope designs that run the gamut from a home with a glass-enclosed bridge to a home with moat and turrets. Architects, contractors, and designers will be on hand to answer questions and to tout their talents on display.

World-class Chaparrel Restaurant, with its stunning views of the Sawatch Range, will be the setting for the gourmet luncheon.

Proceeds from the Home Tour, which in recent years has raised $70,000, are allocated for need-based scholarships at the independent, college preparatory school.

Tickets may be purchased beginning July 15 by calling the school at 477-7177 and after Sept. 1 at Gorsuch Ltd. in Vail Village and Beaver Creek; American Ski Exchange in Vail Village, the Bag and Pack Shop in Vail Village and Avon and the Silver Buckle in Edwards. They also may be purchased on the day of the Tour.

Advance ticket sales are discounted at $45, $35 over age 62, and $35 for students. Prices the day of the tour are $50 and $45 respectively. Rates for senior and student of 20 or more are $30 per person

Parking and the “Epicurean Gourmet Pantry” (formerly the VMS Bake Sale) will be at the Harold and Mary Louise Shaw Cancer Center in Edwards where vans will shuttle guests to and from the homes.
