Vail Mountain senior is National Merit finalist
VAIL – Vail Mountain School senior Joel Migchelbrink has been named a finalist in the 2006 National Merit Scholarship Program.
That puts Migchelbrink in a class with only 15,000 other students, which is less than one percent of all high school seniors in the U.S. Migchelbrink qualified as a semi-finalist in the fall of 2005 based on his SAT scores, a written statement of his goals, and recommendations from representatives of the East Vail private school. “It was an honor,” says Migchelbrink of his latest achievement. “I’m very proud of how far I’ve gone in this competition.”
Migchelbrink will receive a certificate of merit from Vail Mountain School Headmaster Peter Abuisi at the school’s Senior Recognition Evening on May 23. National merit finalists are eligible for a variety of scholarships.
