Vail Mountain will open Wednesday

Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL ” Vail will fire up one chairlift, Chair 8, to serve one trail, Born Free, for its opening Wednesday.

The mountain was supposed to open last Friday, but the opening was delayed because of warm temperatures and little natural snow.

A cold front is supposed to move into the area Tuesday, bringing 2 to 4 inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Chair 8 rises almost 1,600 vertical feet, next to the gondola, out of Lionshead. Born Free is the standard minimal opening for Vail. The last Born Free-only opening was 2004.

Vail’s gondola will be open for scenic rides, and lunch will be available at Eagle’s Nest.
