Vail Mountaineer editor resigns
December 1, 2008
EDWARDS, Colorado ” The editor of the Vail Mountaineer, a local newspaper, announced his immediate resignation Monday.
Stephen Lloyd Wood said his departure was due to disagreements with the paper’s owner, Jim Pavelich.
“The owner of the Mountaineer and I reached a long-brewing impasse over the journalistic standards, ethics and principles of publishing a newspaper of integrity,” Wood wrote in a resignation e-mail. “I wish the Mountaineer’s continuing staff and contributors the best of luck.”
Wood declined to comment further. Pavelich did not return calls seeking comment on Monday evening. Wood previously worked for the Vail Daily and Vail Trail. He is also a freelance writer and ski instructor.
