Vail Mtn. Rescue finds snowmobiler’s body

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado ” The body of missing snowmobiler John McKinbben was found around 11:15 a.m., Thursday by four members of Vail Mountain Rescue group.

McKibben’s body was flown out of the wilderness by a National Guard Blackhawk Helicopter.

“The assistance of the National Guard enabled (us) to conduct very safe operation which allowed closure for the family,” said Tim Cochrane, Vail Mountain Rescue’s mission coordinator.



McKibben, of Kremmling, and two other men got lost Sunday after leaving on a snowmobile trip from Silverthorne.

Craig Morris, of Naples, Fla., and Murry Melloni, of Littleton, were found Tuesday on the west side of Elliott Ridge on the border of Eagle and Summit counties.

Morris and Melloni of Littleton were treated for frostbite at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs after a helicopter brought them to the Eagle County airport.
