Vail music store gives out free stuff
Vail CO, Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” Eagle Valley Music in West Vail plans to participate Saturday in the second annual Record Store Day. It is a nationwide celebration of independent record stores and only about 300 music shops across the country are participating. Some of the bigger stores have live bands or other special events.
Participating stores stock various products to give out free with purchases. There are many CD samplers, 7-inch vinyls, turntable mats, classic rock iron-on T-shirt transfers, magazines, LP samplers and a limited edition numbered Beatles lithograph. There are also some items for sale that are exclusive to participating stores.
Eagle Valley Music stands in the West Vail Mall, behind Domino’s Pizza. The store is open from 10 a.m. to midnight. Owners recommend customers go in the afternoon to ensure all the free stuff is available as some of the items might not show up until Saturday’s shipment.
“Last year was awesome and so many people got some really cool stuff,” store owner Tom Robbins said. “I’m guessing this year will be even better. A lot of younger people don’t even buy physical product any more. I think this special day would be a great opportunity to introduce your kids to LPs as they’re making a huge comeback and support local business to boot. I don’t think iTunes does much for our local economy!”
Eagle Valley Music has been in business for over 25 years. The store has been selling new comic books, graphic novels and trade paperbacks for the past year. Eagle Valley Music also carries thousands of vintage books at half off their marked prices. Other products include vinyl LPs, CDs, DVDs, T-shirts and music supplies.
The next special event at Eagle Valley Music is Free Comic Book Day scheduled for May 2.
