Vail narrows energy audit candidates
VAIL, Colorado -The Town of Vail has narrowed the field of consultant teams bidding to undertake an energy audit for town facilities from 15 to seven following a request for proposals process initiated in July. The finalists scheduled to be interviewed by a staff review panel today: BCER Engineering, Denver; Design Workshop, Aspen; Johnson Controls, Inc., Denver; M-E Engineers, Inc., Avon; McKinstry Co., LLC, Conifer ; Raindrop Partners, LLC, Denver; and Peter Schwartz & Associates, LLC, San Rafael, Calif. The energy audit will take approximately two months to complete. The firm will study energy use in all of the town’s buildings, rec facilities and employee housing units. The findings will be used to create a plan to make energy efficiency upgrades that will reduce costs and carbon emissions. The town wants to reduce overall community energy consumption over a 2006 baseline by 20 percent by the year 2020, regardless of development and population growth.
