Vail Nature Center holds photo workshops

VAIL, Colorado – Local photographer Steven DeWitt will uses Vail, Colorados natural surroundings as a classroom this summer for Vail Nature Center’s outdoor photography classes.
The first class is Monday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Classes continue at Vail’s Nature Center on the following Mondays: July 6 and 20 and Aug. 3 and 17.
The classes, for students 16 and older, offer instruction on light and exposure; the basics of digital and analog photography; and scale, proportion, composition and vision. All levels and all types of cameras are welcome. Cost is $80 per single-day workshop.
The workshops will deepen participant’s love and appreciation for Vail’s natural surroundings, DeWitt says.
“So often with nature and travel photography, we have a vision or emotion we want to create or capture, but feel disappointed with the end result,” said DeWitt. “The camera will be the tool that I will use to help teach new skills and create an exceptional images students envision.”
During each session DeWitt critique the photos students take each day.
Participants of the workshops are encouraged to prepare for all weather conditions and plan accordingly with sunscreen, hats, water and raincoats. Participants are also responsible for bringing a camera and sack lunch to the class. Parking is available at the Ford Park athletic fields, Vail athletic field or at the Vail Village Parking Structure.
