Vail Night Walk is slated to take place on Friday

VAIL — The local Light the Night group will hold its annual Night Walk on Friday. Walkers are encouraged to meet by the Covered Bridge in Vail. The sign-up is at 6:30, and the walk begins at 7:15 p.m.

Fundraising event

The walk is a fundraiser for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This year’s walk is dedicated to the memory of Jen Pinkus, a Vail community member who lost her battle with lymphoma.

The walk is also dedicated to Kai Conroy and Rob Shay. According to a release, both people have been diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome, a blood disorder that, if left untreated, can turn into leukemia. Shay is being treated at this time in Denver.

A representative of the Love, Hope Strength Foundation will be present at the walk to register people for the national bone marrow registry — that’s a chance to save someone’s life.
