VAIL, Colorado – The Vail Nordic Center is open for the 2009-10 season with seven kilometers of terrain for early season Nordic skiing.

Once conditions permit, the Nordic Center will open 17 kilometers of groomed trails, plus 10 kilometers of separate snowshoe trails. The Nordic Center, which is located at the Vail Golf Club, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily with rentals for skate and classic skiing, plus backcountry skis and snowshoes. The Nordic Center also offers daily lessons for classic and skate skiing.

Ski and Snowboard Club Vail’s 42nd annual Vail Town Series Nordic races starts Wednesday at the Vail Nordic Center. Costs are $10 for adults or $5 for children ages 13 and younger. The races are a fundraiser for the ski club’s Nordic programs.

A free pre-race clinic will also be offered today.
