Vail offers flood tips on Friday

VAIL, Colorado ” Vail, Coloradol residents can get tips on how to prepare for floods at two community meetings at Vail town hall Friday.
The meetings are being sponsored by The Hartford Financial Insurance Group, and will include representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Flood Insurance Program.
The first session, from noon to 1 p.m., is for insurance agents and brokers, where information on federal laws, maps and zones, and insurance will be provided. The second session, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., will be for residents. Topics will include an overview of the National Flood Insurance Program as well as flood preparedness.
Currently the Vail area is at 90 percent of average snowpack. That compares to 118 percent at this time a year ago.
