Vail opens more Back Bowls

VAIL ” Vail Mountain will drop the ropes on China Bowl, Tea Cup Bowl and Siberia Bowl Tuesday, and Blue Sky Basin will open Friday.

Orient Express Lift (Chair 21) and Tea Cup Express Lift (Chair 36) will start running for the year Tuesday, resort officials said. Two Elk Restaurant also will open for the season.

With the new openings, the resort will have 3,400 acres open, served by 23 lifts. Vail has a total of 5,289 acres.



On Friday, Blue Sky Basin will open for the year, serviced by Skyline Express (Chair 37) and Pete’s Express (Chair 39). Also Friday, the Riva Bahn Express at Golden Peak (Chair 6) will start running. On Friday, the resort will have more than 4,000 acres served by 26 lifts.

Lifts now open at 9 a.m. and close at 3:30 p.m. The lifts will start running at 8:30 a.m. starting Dec. 15.
