Vail opens new lot for construction

VAIL, Colorado – The Golden Peak parking lot in Vail has been opened for the summer for construction workers.

No one will be able to park in the Vail Village and Lionshead garages between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday. During that hour, all cars will be sent to Vail Resorts’ 105-space Golden Peak lot.

The garages will reopen once that lot is full. Parking in Vail is free during the summer and off-season.

The new lot was opened to accommodate visitors parking in the garages. The Golden Peak lot also compensates for space while two levels of the Vail Valley Medical Center’s garage are closed for maintenance.

The 226 spaces on the top deck of the Village garage remains closed until 10 a.m. Monday through Friday this summer to accommodate late-arrivals.

Vail parking and transit manager Mike Rose says he’s also looking for contractors who may be interested in using the former Wendy’s restaurant lot in West Vail to park employees. Arrangements may be made in advance by calling Rose at 970-390-4679 who will then schedule shuttles.

From Monday until Aug. 28, access to the Golden Peak construction parking will be via Mill Creek Circle rather than Vail Valley Drive due to construction. A bus will pick up workers at the Golden Peak lot to take them to their construction sites.

For more information, contact Rose at (970) 390-4679.
