Vail opens to 5,100 acres on Dec. 15

VAIL, Colorado ” With more than three-and-a-half feet of new snow blanketing Vail’s slopes this week, the resort is set to open the rest of its terrain including Inner and Outer Mongolia Bowls and Siberia Bowl and a jib and rail park at Golden Peak this Dec. 15 leaping to 5,103 acres and 191 trails accessed by 27 lifts. Skiers and snowboarders also will gain 30 extra minutes to explore the mountain when Vail opens the front side at 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 15.
Vail Extends Operating Hours
Beginning Saturday, Dec. 15, Vail’s front side operating hours will be from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Blue Sky Basin will close at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Lifts in the Back Bowls will close at 3 p.m. Additionally, Sourdough Lift (Chair 14) will close at 3 p.m. Lift operating hours are posted at the base of all open lifts.
Adventure Ridge Features New Nighttime Family Activities
On Tuesday, Dec. 18 Vail Mountain will open Adventure Ridge for the season. Located at the top of the Eagle Bahn Gondola, Adventure Ridge lets families ski or ride all day and play well into the night by offering a variety of non-skiing activities for all ages. Activities include a multi-lane tubing hill; kids snowmobiling at “Blizzard Speedway”; rebound trampolines; ski biking and snowshoe tours.
