VAIL – Four candidates vying for three seats on the Vail Park and Recreation District Board of Directors will have an opportunity to discuss their views during a candidate forum from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Vail Town Council Chambers.

Vail Recreation District voters are being asked to elect three members to the five-person board of directors at the May 4 election. The candidates, John Donovan and incumbents Joe Hanlon, Rick Sackbauer and Ken Wilson, will participate in a question-and-answer session facilitated by Michael Kurz of Kurz Strategic Marketing, Inc.

Requests for a mail-in ballot can be made by going to, downloading the application form for a mail-in ballot and faxing the completed form to 970-479-2197. Applications can also be hand delivered from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Vail Recreation District’s administration offices, 700 S. Frontage Rd.

The May 4 election is a polling place election with the poll open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Town of Vail Municipal Building, 75 S. Frontage Rd.

The Vail Recreation District is a special district and is separate from the town of Vail. It operates programs at the Vail Golf Club, Vail Tennis Center, Dobson Ice Arena, Vail Gymnastics Center, Vail Nature Center, Vail Nordic Center and intramural sports and children’s camps.
