Vail parking structure development doesn’t make sense
Vail, CO, Colorado
As brand new converts from part-time to permanent residents, my wife and I are appalled at the shortsighted proposal to try to wedge a major development into the berm buffer of the parking structure facing East Meadow Drive.
The outdated and inadequate parking structure will need to be expanded and developed in the future to meet town of Vail needs, both known and currently unknowable.
Any construction now on this master planned open space will obviously limit future options.
There are lots of other good reasons to reject this proposal, but this one trumps them all. Think how ridiculous current town planners and leaders will look when, down the road, future visionaries will be restricted in their abilities to meet the town’s critical needs.
(Full disclosure: We live right across the street. But this doesn’t weaken the point.)
