Vail Pass reopens
Update 1:15 a.m.: Vail Pass has reopened
The Vail Pass portion of interstate 70 is closed to traffic headed East for a second straight night as snow continues to hit the higher elevations in Eagle and Summit Counties. The safety closure went into effect at approximately 12:15 a.m. early the morning of Tuesday, April 30.
The Sunday night/Monday morning closure also started as a safety closure but ended up lasting nearly four hours as snow pummeled Vail Pass.
Welcome to fall in Colorado, where a red flag warning one day is followed the next day by snow and rain.
