Vail Pass lane closure lifted for holiday

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

EAGLE COUNTY, Colorado – To accommodate Thanksgiving travel, the single-lane closure on Interstate 70 over Black Gore Creek on Vail Pass will be lifted from Tuesday through 6 a.m. Nov. 26.

The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Kiewit Infrastructure Company began a bridge repair project on Nov. 12 at the structure over Black Gore Creek on west Vail Pass. The work, which is scheduled for completion by Dec. 21, was contracted to Kiewit for approximately $300,000.

The project involves the replacement of steel bolts at the structure’s east end, where the horizontal steel girders are anchored to the bridge’s concrete abutment. New high-strength steel expansion anchors are being installed.

The public information line for the project is 303-319-5857.
