Vail Pass opens around noon Wednesday

VAIL, Colorado ” Vail Pass reopened around 11: 30 a.m. Wednesday after it had been closed since earlier in the morning.
Heavy traffic is expected and drivers are asked to use caution.
The pass was closed for avalanche control, and the town of Vail had opened an emergency shelter, which is now being closed.
During the closure, 32 semi-trucks waited at Dotsero to help eliminate gridlock farther east.
Public safety officials say the coordinated efforts worked well in keeping travelers informed.
The chain law will remain in effect for semi-trucks over Vail Pass until further notice.
The National Weather Service says the snow should diminish during the afternoon.
