Vail Pass reopens, Hwy 24 closes

VAIL – Interstate 70 reopened at Vail Pass at approximately 8 p.m. on Friday evening after being closed for nearly 6 hours. As I-70 reopened, Highway 24 closed in both directions at mile marker 171 near Leadville.

A winter storm warning, issued by the National Weather Service, remains in effect until Sunday evening.

Highway 6 at Loveland Pass also closed on Friday evening due to avalanche hazard.



Vail Mountain closed for part of the day on Friday, due to lightning. It reopened at about 2 p.m. after being closed for more than two hours.
