Vail rec board race has 3 candidates

VAIL, Colorado ” Three Vail residents are vying for two spots on the Vail Recreation District board of directors.

Ross Davis Jr., incumbent Michelle Hall and Jeff Wiles are candidates for the May 6 election.

Incumbent Scott Proper is not seeking re-election. Proper is set to become president of the Vail Rotary Club and cited time restraints in his decision not to run again.

This will be the first contested election for the rec district since 2004. In 2006, three candidates ran for three spots.

The other members of the Vail Recreation District board are Joe Hanlon, Rick Sackbauer and Ken Wilson.

The Vail Recreation District is a special district that’s separate from the town of Vail. It runs the Vail Golf Club, the Ford Park Tennis Center, the Dobson Ice Arena, the Gymnastics Center, intramural sports and children’s camps.
