VAIL, Colorado ” Shooting and safety lessons for rifles, pistols and shotguns will be offered through the Vai, Colorado recreation district at the Minturn Shooting Range this summer.

The classes will be led by Mathew Bayley, owner of On Target and Vail Academy of Martial Arts, and are open to people ages 8 and older. Classes will focus on safe handling of firearms and beginning, intermediate and advanced shooting. Students taking rifle and pistol lessons will use targets and shotgun students will practice with sporting clays.

Bayley says firearms training is one of the safest of all organized recreational activities when properly taught.

“My goal is to work with the VRD to offer a new recreational activity that both guests and Vail Valley residents will find unique and exciting,” said Bayley. “Firearm lessons can be exhilarating and often students find shooting a rewarding life-long pursuit.”

Costs are $150 per hour for individual instruction, $200 for an hour lesson for two students and $50 per hour for each additional student up to six students. Firearms are provided but participants are welcome to bring their own. Ammunition is not included.
