Vail Resorts backs Valley Home Store

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL ” The charitable arm of Vail Resorts will help pay for software that will manage a database for affordable housing at the Valley Home Store, a Eagle County-backed clearing house for information about various communities’ deed-restricted housing programs.

Vail Resorts 360 will work with the Economic Council of Eagle County to develop specialized software for a database program to help manage the store’s real estate management business.

“We’ve been in discussion with the economic council on how we could bring real value to regional housing efforts,” said Kristin Kenney Williams, director of Eagle County public affairs for Vail Resorts. “We hope to bring more efficiency to affordable home buying.”

A Vail Resorts representative will also join the expanded board of the economic council.

Don Cohen, executive director of the Economic Council of Eagle County, said the software will allow any housing organization to track the sales history of properties and link them to owners.

“It will provide scoring for buyer lotteries and waiting lists, track equity allowances and monitor deed compliance,” Cohen said. “These are all very labor intensive and time consuming activities that housing organizations continue to struggle with.”
