Vail Resorts can’t stop sale of The Canyons
VAIL A judge has blocked Vail Resorts attempts to stop the sale of The Canyons ski resort in Utah. Vail Resorts had sought an injunction to stop the Talisker Corporation from buying ASC Utah, the owner of The Canyons. While we remain interested in The Canyons resort and are disappointed in the outcome of the preliminary injunction hearing, we respect the courts decision, said Rob Katz, chief executive officer of Vail Resorts. We will continue to pursue our legal rights related to this matter.Vail Resorts says it had spent $2 million on the lawsuit as of Aug. 1. Vail Resorts also says its hotel management company, RockResorts International, LLC, has reached a final, $13.5 million settlement in the Cheeca Lodge lawsuit. The company had sued Cheeca Holdings LLC, the owner of the former RockResorts’ property at Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada, Fla., claiming the hotel management contract was wrongfully terminated.
