VAIL – The CEO of Vail Resorts Inc. is scheduled to ring the opening bell today for the New York Stock Exchange.

Rob Katz is scheduled to ring the bell not on Wall Street but remotely, from the base of Vail Mountain.

The Vail ski resort is marking its 50th anniversary this season with a number of different celebrations and events to commemorate the occasion.

This is the third time that Vail Resorts will participate in the opening bell ceremony for the New York Stock Exchange.

The first occasion took place Feb. 4, 1997, the day the company’s stock began trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.

The second was on Dec. 5, 2008, from the finish area of the men’s World Cup downhill race course at Beaver Creek.
