Vail Resorts holding food drive Saturday
May 12, 2011
VAIL, Colorado – Vail Resorts, in partnership with SOS Outreach, is helping stock the food shelves of some of our community’s neediest families – and the company is challenging the community to help.
The food drive, benefiting the Vail Valley Salvation Army, will be from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday outside the City Markets in Vail and Avon.
Vail Resorts is challenging everyone to help stock the shelves by matching every pound of food donated by both communities, up to $1,000. That’s equal to 2,300 pounds of food.
Food shelves throughout resort towns are close to depletion in May, due to the big December/holiday push running out and increased usage from the locals between the busy seasons, according to Vail Resorts.
Volunteers are needed at each location. Shifts span from 9:45 a.m. to noon and noon to 3 p.m. Email Anna Black at firstname.lastname@example.org to volunteer
