Vail Resorts planning first Avon homes
Vail, CO Colorado
AVON, Colorado ” Vail Resorts Development Company is one step closer to building a 15-unit townhouse development at the northeast corner of Avon Road and Highway 6, which would be the company’s first residential development in the town of Avon.
Avon’s planning commission approved rezoning the land, known as the Red House property, on Jan. 20. Because the land is located in unincorporated Eagle County, there’s also an annexation process underway that the Avon Town Council is scheduled to vote on at its Feb. 24 meeting.
Vail Resorts Development Company owns the land, and plans to dedicate portions of the land to the town, said Rick Pylman, of Pylman and Associates, which represents the company.
The medium density project would be a gateway to the town, because of its location on both the Eagle River and Beaver Creek, said Brandt Marott, project manager for Vail Resorts Development Company.
The company’s building plans are heavily focused on protecting the river’s heath and using green, or sustainable, building practices and designs.
Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
Because the project isn’t “breaking ground tomorrow,” Marott said the company isn’t worried about the current economy so much.
The cost of the townhomes would be less than the price range for condominiums at the Westin Riverfront, just across the road. The townhomes would be built as three buildings with 4-6 attached three-level units in each.
