Vail restaurant’s proceeds to benefit orphans

Vail Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado –On April Friday and Saturday, The Lord Gore Restaurant in Manor Vail Lodge will donate 10 percent of its proceeds to OrphanAct, a Rotary Club-based nonprofit organization that works to improve the living conditions of children around the world.

Unicef reports that there are over 140 million orphans worldwide but many orphanages provide only substandard living conditions. OphanAct’s Children’s Action Teams are working to improve the conditions of orphanages, shelters, hospitals for abandoned babies and other children’s facilities.

These teams include representatives from U.S. Rotary clubs, churches, schools, individuals and other civic organizations.

Leanna Roberts, a member of the Vail Rotary Club, became involved early in the project and after six years as a volunteer has become the organization’s first executive director.
