Vail scores above-average year

But there are six weeks left until the slopes close and snowfall at the resort has already passed its historical average of 346 inches a year. The bountiful snow ” 349 inches worth as of 4 p.m. Wednesday ” has led the resort to keep more of the mountain open during the final week of ski season, from April 17 to April 23.
Sun Up Bowl, Sun Down Bowl, China Bowl and Blue Sky Basin will be open that week, as well as the frontside of the mountain. Eighteen chairlifts will be running. Restaurants at Two Elk, Eagle’s Nest, Mid-Vail and Buffalo also will be open until closing day.
